Wear clothes that you don’t mind getting filthy dirty. This includes footwear. Sandals or "flipflops" are not a good idea. Getting dirty is not something that you want to worry about. ... the local red dirt will clean out with cold water, dish soap, and a little hand scrubbing.

Something to snack on - Apples, grapes, bananas, etc.

A picnic lunch - digging and shoveling can be hard work. You will most likely want to take a break and what better way than to ‘break bread’ with your friends and family.

Drinking water, or a sports drink - It is not a good idea to drink the creek water and you will probably get dehydrated. Soda pop does not relieve dehydration.
